The Golden State
Warriors drew inspiration from their home crowd in posting a 108-100 over the
Lebron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers for a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven NBA
Finals series.
The Warriors came
back from 14 points down early in the game in their first finals appearance in
40 years, setting themselves up for a nail-biter finish in Game 1 against the
Cavs who leaned heavily on James.
James pumped in a game-leading 44
points but lacked able support from the other Cavs when it mattered most after
regulation ended at 98-all, with both teams muffing the chance to win outright
without going to OT.
The game saw 13 lead changes and 11
ties, with Stephen Curry holding his own against James whose Cavs missed their
first eight shots in overtime to the delight of the 19,596 GS crowd.
The quarterscores: GS-Cle. 19-29;
48-51; 73-76; 98-98 OT: 108-100
