The
Golden State Warriors outhustled and outshot the Cleveland Cavaliers five
triples to two in the last seven minutes to post a 104-91 victory in Game 5 of
the NBA Finals.
Before
their wildly-cheering crowd, the Warriors broke away from a 77-all tally with
five booming three-pointers, including three by Stephen Curry, en route to
snatching a 3-2 series lead and putting to waste Lebron James’ triple-double
performance.
James
fired a game-high 40 points, snatched 14 rebounds and dished out 11 assists,
but he would have to get more support from his fellow Cavs when the series
returns to their home court on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila).
Curry
had 37 points, seven rebounds and four assists. He and his Warriors would try
to close out the Cavs in Game 6 after scoring the back-to-back wins in Games 4 and 5. The
Warriors scalped the Cavs, 103-82 in Game 4.
Golden
State took Game 1, 108-100, the Cavs eked out a 95-93 win in Game 2 and then took
a 2-1 lead with a 96-91 victory in Game 3. -end-
