Water company Maynilad has announced
water service interruptions in almost 900 barangays in designated hours
starting Wednesday next week, September, 16 to ease the pressure off Angat Dam.
Barangays in Metro Manila and
Cavite will have no water from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. as the effects of El Niño
continue to lower Angat Dam's water level.
The affected 900 barangays,
representing 56 percent of Maynilad's customer base, are in: Caloocan, Las Piñas,
Makati, Malabon, Manila, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Quezon City, Valenzuela, as well as Noveleta, Rosario, Cavite City and
Imus in Cavite.
The scheduled water
interruption may stretch to other areas should the National Water Resources
Board (NWRB) lower its water allocation to Maynilad and Manila Water.
Manila Water customers, on the
other hand, may expect weaker water pressure from 10 to 11 p.m. to 4 to 5 a.m.
by September 21, though they will continue to have an uninterrupted water
supply as long as Ipo Dam is stable.
