With
87,000 full-time employees (FTEs) and US$1.3 billion in revenues in 2014, the healthcare
information management services (HIMS) industry is projecting revenues of $9.8
billion and 545,000 FTEs by 2020, according to the Healthcare Management
Association of the Philippines (HIMAP)
HIMAP
has been targeting what it termed as “bucket services” for pharmaceuticals,
billing, claims and member-patient management. It sees, however, expanded
services such as mobile healthcare, care coordination, research and analytics,
population health management, supply chain distribution, medical transcription
and phamarco-vigilance.
HIMAP
also sees new opportunities in the United States where the healthcare sector is
growing, especially with the affirmation of the legality of the so-called
Obamacare.
“The
healthcare industry is undergoing profound transformation with more innovative
solutions and technological advancement pushing service providers to adapt. We
as an industry need to step up, revolutionize to adapt and stay relevant,” said
HIMAP.
HIMAP
is part of the multi-billion dollar business process outsourcing (BPO)
industry. –End-
