The
cases of suspected dengue in Marinduque went up from five last Friday to 30 as
of last Monday, but the regional office of the Department of Health (DOH) has
maintained there is no dengue outbreak yet in any of its municipalities.
Dr.
Eduardo Janairo of DOH Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) said
that all 30 cases are not yet confirmed as dengue and that some of the patients
had already been sent home.
However,
Buenavista Mayor Russel Madrigal has appealed for help and more blood donations
due to the number of reported dengue cases in his town. Philippine Red Cross
chair Richard Gordon has talked to Madrigal and pledged blood donations coming
from PRC-Batangas.
Gordon
said the PRC is already monitoring the situation in Buenavista, a fourth-class
municipality in Marinduque with an estimated population of 23,111 as of the
last census in 2010.
Last
month, Marinduque reported 38 possible dengue cases, with highest number of
cases being in Gasan (15), Boac (15) and Buenavista (7). –End-
